These are so fun and easy to make get the entire family involved. Everyone can have a personalized gummy.

Use Your Imagination

If you can dream up the flavour you can put it in a gummy. The only requirement are: a liquid (coconut water, fruit juice, tea or coffee) and agar agar to stabalize. Add in any additional powders or flavours you like. Don’t worry if that sounds like too much work. I’ve created five flavour that I’m sharing with you today.

One important note is that these gummy’s do not have the texture of store bought. They are similar to very firm jello due to the agar agar.

My Flavours Of Vegan Vitamin Gummy Bears

I used coconut water as the liquid for my gummy’s, agave syrup to sweeten and vitamin and antioxidant rich powders. The flavours of Vegan Vitamin Gummy’s I created are:

Blue Butterfly Tea and Acai berry

Pink Pitaya Lemonade

Camu Camu Orange Creamsicle

Red Beet and Lemon

Blue Spiralina Lemonade

What is Agar Agar?

Agar-Agar is vegetable gelatin that comes from red algae which is a type of seaweed. It has thickening and gelling properties that you’ll also find in many vegan candies. If you’re cooking with a recipe that calls for typical gelatin, you can swap it out for agar-agar but don’t be confused, this recipe calls for the powder form. If you can only find the flakes then use triple the amount as it’s not as strong.

What is Camu Camu?

Camu Camu is a cherry-like fruit that grows in the Amazon rainforest in Peru and Brazil. It is packed with antioxidants and vitamin C to help protect you from free radicals and boost your immune system. In fact, Camu Camu has 60 times more Vitamin C than an orange!

How to Make Vegan Vitamin Gummy Bears

  1. You’ll need a gummy bear mold or any shape mold you’d like. The one I have comes with 3 trays and droppers. Get it here
  2. Heat 1 cup of liquid and 1 tbsp powdered agar agar with 4 tbsp sweetener (or to taste) in a saucepan on the stove top. Bring to boil. Let cool and add the nutritional powder. It is important to let the solution cool slightly as high heat may weaken the potency. However do not let it cool completely as it will start to gel.
  3. Fill a dropper or use a small spoon to fill the molds to the top.
  4. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
