Good Morning Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are like snowflakes, each one is unique and beautiful in their own way! This Good Morning Smoothie Bowl is a little different than my other smoothie bowls. I’ve used a coconut yoghurt that I make myself using canned coconut milk and probiotic capsules. It’s very easy to create and if you don’t have the time, store-bought dairy-free yoghurt works well too!

Probiotics are a very import part of our diet at the Pratt house.  Probiotics are a living microorganism that can be consumed through fermented foods, like yoghurt, kombucha, sauerkraut or kimchi or through supplements. Studies show that the balance or imbalance of bacteria in your gut and digestive system is linked to overall health and disease. A healthy balance of gut bacteria can lead to weight loss, digestive health, improved immune function and much more!

This Good Morning Smoothie Bowl only requires 5 ingredients and top it off as you wish! I’ve added gooseberries, figs, blueberries, blackberries, almond, hemp and shredded coconut.

——————–

Yoghurt Ingredients

  • One can of full-fat coconut milk
  • 3 probiotic capsules

Equipment

  • One glass jar
  • Wooden, plastic or ceramic spoon (not metal)
  • Cheesecloth or paper towel
  • Rubber band

Instructions

  1. Blend ingredients in a high speed- blender until smooth.  I use a Vitamix. It’s my most used kitchen appliance! If the mixture is too thick or is not blending add more non-dairy milk.
  2. Decorate with desired toppings.

Yoghurt Instructions

  1. Open the full-fat coconut milk and pour into a glass jar and stir.
  2. Twist apart three probiotic capsules and stir the powder into the coconut milk with a wooden, plastic or ceramic spoon. Metal spoons can kill the live culture.
  3. Cover the jar with cheesecloth or a piece of paper towel and secure it with an elastic band.  Set the jar on the counter.
  4. After two days, move the jar to the fridge and let it get cold
