A turmeric latte may be one of the most delicious of all fall drinks. So delicious, that I make it year-round! It will make you feel like you’re drinking sunshine on a cold winter’s day and is a healthier alternative to coffee. If you’re looking to cut down on your caffeine intake, then it’s time to learn how to make a vegan turmeric latte.
Turmeric has a bevvy (see what I did there?) of health benefits. It’s an incredibly popular drink at local cafes these days because of this. The most important benefit is that turmeric is anti-inflammatory. It also includes antioxidants, lowers your risk of heart disease and even has anti-ageing properties! It reduces irritation and redness which can be great for your skin. Turmeric produces a compound called curcumin. This is a medicinal property that helps to protect the effects of Alzheimer’s. It’s a great source of nutrients to improve brain function.
Now that you have all of the ingredients and instructions below on how to make a vegan turmeric latte, have fun with it! Add in some black pepper, nutmeg or even cayenne pepper (not all at the same time!) to give your latte a little kick! Ingredients
- 1 ½ non-dairy unsweetened milk
- ½ tsp of turmeric powder
- ¼ tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tbsp of maple syrup
Instructions
- Pour all the ingredients into a saucepan and cook over medium high heat until the mixture is hot but does not boil.
- If you have a milk frother use it but it’s not required.
- Alternatively place all ingredients into a Vitamix and blend on high for 5-7 mins or until steam comes out of the lid when opened. It latte will be light and frothy! This is what I did.
- Taste the latte and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Pour into a mug. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon
