Rice Krispy Squares has a new contender in town. Say hello to Vegan Puffed Wheat Squares! These squares are just as delicious and addictive as the squares you’re used to. You’ll have to try not to eat the entire tray in one sitting!
If you’re not sure what Puffed Wheat Squares are, it’s likely that you’re not alone. I only recently discovered that this is a common treat in the Canadian Prairies (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, for all of my American friends). My mother is from Saskatchewan and she used to make these for us as kids, so I’ve taken her classic recipe and gave it a vegan twist for all of us to enjoy.
What You Will Need To Make Puffed Wheat Squares
To make these Vegan Puffed Wheat Squares you will need:
A few extra ingredients than Rice Krispy Squares but trust me, you’ll want to keep making these ones. Just like Krispies, these are no-bake but you will need to use your stovetop to create the chocolatey mix that will be poured on top.
Quick Tip
Before measuring the corn syrup spray the measuring cup with cooking spray. The sticky syrup will slide right out.
