If you never made your own freshly popped spiced popcorn without the help of Orville Redenbacher, you’re in luck! I’m sharing the easiest stovetop recipe with a major flavour upgrade. This freshly popped popcorn recipe will only take you 5 minutes to make.
I use nutritional yeast quite a bit in my recipes and this one is no exception. “Nooch” adds a cheesy and nutty flavour that is irresistible with freshly made popcorn! Nutritional yeast on popcorn is lighter than butter, naturally gluten-free and vegan with rich sources of vitamins, protein and fibre. To give your popped kernels some colour and extra flavour, we’re going to add beet powder. This adds a beautiful pink hue and sweetness. You can find beet powder easily on Amazon.
If you’ve made popcorn on the stovetop before and found that it created a lot of smoke, you may have been using an oil with a high smoking point. I made the switch to coconut oil about 10 years ago and I’ve never looked back.
Popcorn is a snack that I craved all the time when I was pregnant with Carrington and now it’s one of her favourites, too! I make sure to have a freshly made bag on hand for a healthy snack and her little friends have jumped on the popcorn wagon, as well.
