Vegan Puffed Wheat Squares

Ingredients

  • 8 cups of puffed wheat
  • ¼ cup of vegan butter

  • ½ cup of golden corn syrup

  • 1 cup of packed brown sugar

  • ¼ cup of cocoa

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 tsp of vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine vegan butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa and salt in a small saucepan and place on medium heat.  Bring to a boil stirring constantly until smooth.

  2. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla

  3. Pour over the puffed wheat and stir until coated evenly

  4. Press into an ungreased 9×13 inch pan. If the cereal is too sticky place a piece of parchment paper on top. Press down using a heavy flat object such as a drinking glass. Let cool then cut into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
